Testimonials

“I cannot express how grateful I am to The Fuller Center for Housing Southwest Louisiana for providing my family with a safe and affordable home. Thank you for all that you do.”

Nora Jacobs, Homeowner

Our Mission

The Fuller Center for Housing SWLA creates partnerships that bring together churches, schools, businesses, and civic organizations to repair existing homes and build decent, affordable homes for individuals and families who are unable to secure adequate housing. Our goal is to provide a hand-up, not a hand-out, to families in need.

Our Vision

We envision Southwest Louisiana as a thriving  community, free of dilapidated and dangerous poverty housing.  A place where parents are able to provide simple, descent housing for their families and where children grow-up safe, secure, healthy, and happy; enjoying all our community, environment and culture have to offer.   All rooted in the Christian faith that binds our communities and strengthens our work.

Our Process

We partner with low-income homeowners or potential new homeowners in the repair or building of their home.  They agree to invest "sweat equity" into the home by working side by side with our crews and volunteers.  They also volunteer to help build the homes of others in the program.   They also agree to repay the cost of materials used for a home repair or the cost of the new home, through a no interest loan at a monthly payment they can afford.   We do not give homes away.                                                                        We develop and nurture relationships with like minded and driven individuals and groups to repair and build homes using volunteer labor and donated materials where possible to keep construction costs to a minimum.                                                                                               We accept gifts of land, funding, professional services, materials, tools and other needed goods that allow us to complete our work in the most safe, efficient and cost effective manner possible.                                                                         We partner with other nonprofit agencies to provide services or items needed by our families that we cannot provide, but that will make home ownership sustainable for the family.
